According to a story from Daily Report, Juban’s filed Monday for a new alcohol permit for its Highland Park Marketplace restaurant.
The marketplace is an upscale retail center at the intersection of Highland Road and Perkins Road East. The third phase will house a Kean’s Dry Cleaner and Juban’s concept restaurant. However, the building will be configured slightly differently than originally planned.
As a result, developer George Kurz and Juban’s owners have applied for a rezoning permit to allow the restaurant to serve alcohol.

The move to get the alcohol permit is a technicality. Juban’s owners remain tight-lipped about their plans for the restaurant. The restaurant will now be 11,000 square feet instead of the originally planned 14,000 square feet. Construction could begin by the fourth quarter of the year.

Relying on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, SelfStorage.com has ranked the top U.S. metro areas that have witnessed the highest growth rates for restaurants, hotels and bars per 1,000 residents from 2005-2013.
Baton Rouge landed eighth on the list. In 2013, the city had 1.9 restaurants, hotels and bars per 1,000 residents. The city’s nine-year growth rate is nearly 12%. The numbers are good to be ahead of Austin, Texas. The No. 1 city was New Orleans, which has a growth rate of more than 18%.
