’90s Bar Crawl set for this weekend

This Saturday, June 11, from 2-10 p.m. will see a ’90s Bar Crawl through several bars in along Perkins Road, including The Bulldog, Uncle Earl’s and the Overpass Merchant. Those participating in the crawl are encouraged to dress in their favorite ’90s gear and enjoy drink specials at the Baton Rouge bars, a signature bar crawl cup and ’90s music at participating establishments.

Cathead Distillery tasting coming up at The Radio Bar

The Radio Bar is hosting a vodka tasting with Cathead Distillery, the first and oldest distillery in Mississippi, on Tuesday, June 14, 5-7 p.m.

The entire line of Cathead vodkas will be sampled, including Honeysuckle, distilled in small batches and infused with honeysuckle and pure Louisiana cane sugar, and Pecan, also distilled in small batches and infused with Mississippi pecans and pure Louisiana cane sugar. Patrons at the tasting can have cocktails crafted with their favorite flavors.


Tin Roof hosts summer picnic next weekend with new seasonal brew

To celebrate the release of its new summer seasonal “Not Too Sweet Watermelon Wheat,” Tin Roof Brewing Company will host a Watermelon Wheat Summer Picnic next Saturday, June 18, at 1 p.m.

The event will feature beer, music, food from Roux 61 for lunch and Frankie’s Dawg House for dinner and a cornhole tournament.

The cornhole tournament will be a two-person, double-elimination competition, and it will start at 2 p.m. The cost is $15 per team and each team will receive two free Watermelon Wheat mason jars. Prizes will be announced on the day of the tournament.


Fête Rouge tickets now available for 10th anniversary event

Tickets are now for sale for the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society’s 10th annual Fête Rouge, a two-day event showcasing Baton Rouge chefs and wines from around the world, taking place Aug. 25 and 26 at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel

This year’s Fête Rouge events will include honoring Holly Clegg with the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society’s Grace “Mama” Marino Lifetime Achievement Award at its annual awards dinner on Thursday, Aug. 25. Also included are the Fête du Vin, Fête Rouge’s premium tasting event, Friday, Aug. 26, 6-8 p.m., and Food & Wine Fête also on Friday, Aug. 26, 7-10 p.m. The Food & Wine Fête will feature the Chefs Competition where about 40 local chefs will compete with their best dishes in several categories.

Reminder: Today is the last day to apply for Tin Roof’s beer panel

Tin Roof Brewing Company is releasing an officially licensed LSU beer to be launched in time for the 2016 football season and chosen by fans.

Participants must apply via an online survey page and be available either June 14 or June 18 for the taste test. Applications will no longer be accepted after today, June 8, and the chosen applicants will be notified June 10.

Fans 21 and older will be able to take part in a blind taste-testing panel to choose the beer Tin Roof will brew. The company has created a slate of eight to 10 test batches for participants to sample.
