‘Daily Report’: The State Bar to fill Louie’s Café space

The former Louie’s Café building at 209 West State St. will reopen this summer as The State Bar.

Owner Shane Courrege, who first disclosed plans for a bar at the site last fall, says construction resumed at the site last week after a delay that arose during the permitting process. He hopes it will be complete within 60 days.

“It’s not a very big place and we’re using a lot of what is existing,” he says. “So the scope of work is not very huge.”

Courrege and his business partner in the venture, chef Luis Macedo, signed a lease for the 2,000-square-foot space last fall from building and Louie’s Café owner Jimmy Wetherford.
