‘Daily Report’: New meat, seafood market coming to Perkins Road

Chauvin businessman and former state senator Marty Chabert is planning to open a meat and seafood market in Baton Rouge in about six weeks. Chabert says he’s hoping to have Marty J’s Specialty Meats, Seafood & Po-boys open by March 1 in the former City Café location at 13434 Perkins Road, between Siegen and Pecue Lane.

Chabert says he envisions his establishment with a setup similar to Tony’s Seafood—a popular seafood market in north Baton Rouge—with plate lunches alongside live and boiled seafood, as well as a meat market. Chabert says the market will also specialize in New Orleans-style po-boys.
