Relentlessly cheerful Brooklyn pop duo Matt and Kim brings a host of impervious and memorable tunes like 2008’s head-bopping single “Daylight” to Spanish Moon for a concert March 4.

Last year’s Cardinology may have been a pale shadow of alt-country posterboy Ryan Adams’s return to his folk roots on 2007’s Easy Tiger, but the songwriter’s March 5 concert at the Baton Rouge River Center is likely to be the only time in the near future to catch him in the Red Stick.

Being born the oldest son of legendary folk singer Woody Guthrie has its advantages and its disadvantages. Arlo Guthrie has made the best of that mantle as a performer with both underground roots and acclaim on the international stage. He brings classic songs like “Alice’s Restaurant” and “City of New Orleans” to the Manship Theatre for two concerts March 11 and 12.

If you missed hearing from Louisiana’s best-known pop-rock band, Better Than Ezra, last year while the members took time apart, you’ll want to see them this time around. The New Orleans-based trio visits The Varsity March 13.
