I worked at a groomer for two years and I have been bitten to the point of having bloody arms, hands, and once a dog latched on to my shoulder and wouldn't let go. These are all breeds that are aren't considered "vicious." Labs, lap dog breeds, german shepards, collies... They've all bitten me and most of the time it was different dogs of the same breed. It's my job to work with stressed out dogs and try to keep them as calm and happy as possible, but most of the time they're angry and will lash out due to poor training and poor socialization.
I didn't even read the rest of this article. I stopped way at the top because it made me laugh and feel sick at the same time. Yes, dog attacks are horrible... I know. But the idea that "pit bulls" go hunting for prey is just ridiculous. The idea that most people who own them are criminals and somehow incorporate their dogs into their illegal activities may be true, but wouldn't that call for stricter animal abuse laws, more funding for AC to track these "dog owners" down, and more city and state police efforts and training to understanding dog behavior?
I'm all for the humane euthanization of any dog that shows human aggression. Lets start culling out all the lap dog breeds because they have been proven time and time again to be hand biters, have bitten small children, and I can give testament to how many have bitten me. Next, lets weed out the overbred labs. They're showing up with health and mental problems and are like ticking time bombs. Then lets get rid of all the collies and erase Lassies good image for ever. Collies are herding dogs and are prone to biting people because they haven't been properly trained on how to redirect their instincts. Then lets get rid of beagles, huskies, cocker spaniels who's breed suffers from Rage Syndrome, dalmations, mutts that have no previous history and could snap at any time. The list can go on and on.

The statistics are there for anyone who wants to read them and learn that the media, like this idiot who wrote this article, are just sensationalizing and putting their own opinions into their writing, instead of giving us unbiased information. Good stories get good reviews. Who wants to hear about the pit bulls that save peoples lives? That's boring. Let's read about blood and gore. There was an article in which two "pit bulls" attacked and killed a movie stars caretaker in his house. You may have heard of this and I can't remember the names of the people. It turns out that it WASN'T two pit bulls... It was two Bull Mastiffs... A guarding breed with a knack for being very aggressive to anyone or anything they perceive as a threat to their property. They were doing their job, and, due to obvious poor socialization and training and the fact that the owner of the dogs was not present, the dogs killed someone and have been killed in return for people's mistakes.
