Think Twice Style: Well Suited—’Grease’

Photos by Tate Tullier

Whether you’re Team Good Sandy or Team Bad Sandy, you cannot deny the greatness (though cheesy factor) of Olivia Newton-John’s character in Grease.

The classic musical starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta was a defining role for both stars. The costuming of the film, set in the 1950s, is simply a dream! Better than the costumes, though, are the songs … the songs. A musical-lover’s dream. If you’re not up on your feet dancing along to “Greased Lightening,” I question whether or not you have a soul.

Clueless 4About the outfit: I went with a Bad Sandy approach. Sandy spent much more time in her Good Sandy looks, but the Bad Sandy is—I would say—more famous. Here’s what you will need for your own Bad Sandy look: leather, and lots of it. Pick your shade, but make sure it looks cool. I chose to mix things up a bit with a black leather skirt and a silver faux snakeskin jacket. Slung over a lace crop top, leather offsets the sweetness of the lace. Keep your pop of color in your accessories. Red shoes and a red lip complement the otherwise neutral outfit. Add a one-of-a-kind purse that could have been repurposed from Kenickie’s car to finish off the look.
