Think Twice Style: Toga Twist

One of the ’90s trends coming back around is wearing a button-up dress over denim. Personally, I look like a child when I tried it out on my adult body, so it is not for everyone! However, I still wanted to figure out a way to pull off the look 1) with things I already own and 2) with my own flair. Enter this toga blouse!

I first found this blouse as part of a two-piece set at the Your Friends’ Closet Sale a few years ago (by the way, it is Oct. 10 this year at the LSU 4-H mini barn). Together, the pieces are completely weird on me, but separate, they are so versatile! I have worn this top as a dress as well and it works every way. If you are trying out the ’90s trend yourself, try out some different shapes and lengths. Full length did not work on my frame, but a tulip shape creates the illusion of height. The trick is to show a little knee. It sounds crazy, I know, but it works!

On a normal day, I would not be able to wear this blouse/dress to work by itself. Layering it over black skinnies made it appropriate. I hate the concept of “work clothes” and “weekend clothes.” Why not make them interchangeable? Make your pieces work for you, rather than limiting you.
