Think Twice Style: Summer silhouettes

The heat is on, y’all. Like it or not, it is time to shove your sweaters in the back of your dresser and embrace your endless collection of tanks. Especially for that ole Louisiana humidity, I am a dress girl. All you need to know is that they are more breezy than shorts… and that’s all I will say about that!

IMG_4273When the weather gets warmer, I tend to lean toward looser silhouettes. Babydoll dresses are from heaven, I am convinced. Slimmer on top, loose at the bottom. Perfect for hot summer days (and hiding the evidence of festival food), this shape is my go-to. I love the way the lace gently trickles down to layers of tulle on this dress. I added a floral kimono on top to give it some color. We have been seeing kimonos everywhere lately, and they are a great way to play with offset silhouettes. Your kimono is longer than your dress in the back? No problemo! It’s better that way.

Platform heels are not for the faint of heart, but I can never resist wearing these! They are light as a feather and sometimes more steady than flats. The floral fabric on them adds a hint of flair that your basic brown cannot give. An extra long necklace is best with this silhouette. A piece that touches at your breastbone or lower will elongate your body, and at 5’3, I will try any tall tricks I can! Add pastel sunglasses for added color on your face. Bold pastel for eyewear is a huge trend right now, and it is one I intend to live to the fullest.

What is your favorite summer silhouette?
