Think Twice Style: At the snowball stand

Photos by Jeff Roedel

Second only to Treat Yo Self 2015, the season-opening snowball marks the best day of the year! Let’s be real, that #snowballdiet is hard on the waistline, so your mid-afternoon craving outfit needs to be on point. It’s time to step up your stand game. Toss out the idea of shorts and an oversized tee and throw on something worthy of a ‘gram.

IMG_3683IMG_3651I kept this look super simple. Cutoffs and a vintage blouse are always a good combination. Some people don’t like the idea of denim cutoffs, but they just do not understand how easy they are to style. Everything in your closet goes with your favorite pair of jeans, right? It’s the same with denim shorts, promise. Buy them, wear them, thank me later.

When I bought this blouse at a vintage sale a few years ago, it was eggshell and had non-repairable age stains all over it. I tried staining it with tea, but you could still see the stains. It was made in the 1910s … so I guess it had an excuse to be imperfect. Instead of using darker teas or coffee, I decided to use the leftover beet juice my parents had stored from their last harvest. It came out of the beet juice bath not quite the color I was hoping for (more pink than purple), so I added a couple drops of purple Rit dye to balance it out. Extra bonus: Uou can’t even tell it was in such bad shape when I bought it!

Throw on a fringe jacket to fight the sundown breeze (or your impending brain freeze) and your favorite shades and you’re good to go. Order a wedding cake with double cream in my honor, por favor.
