Think Twice Style: Denim Dream

As a (generally) neutrals girl, it is always a challenge for me to embrace “summer colors” this time of year. Neon has never been my vibe—I fully believe in dressing for your skin tone—and neutrals fit me year round, whether I am ghostly white or have a golden glow. Color, outside of earthy tones, are not my expertise. If you need to know which blacks go together, however, I’m your girl!

IMG_5548That’s is why I am one of the few people who will sport all black in the middle of summer. But I have been trying to challenge myself to wear more vibrant hues as of late. I don’t think I have to tell you that it is not working very well. Somehow, I love wearing black even more in warmer months. Neutrals are my thing. Sue me.

The key to a wardrobe full of neutrals is to play with silhouettes and textures. A linen blend tunic is cool and relaxed with skinny bottoms. The linen fabric is breathable for the heat, and the long hemline makes a streamlined shape. The peek-a-boo sides are a modest take on the cutout trend, but a camisole could be added for more coverage. I love the side slits at the hemline for easy movement. Adding simple jewelry is a must. Anything fussy would ruing the relaxed, cool-girl vibe the rest of the look has going.

Side note: I could imagine wearing this blouse with harem pants or joggers for an even more casual look. Sure, the silhouette may look baggy, but it would look very Japanese street style.

How do you create interest in neutral looks?
