Think Twice Style: Blush, not bashful

Let’s be honest—breaking free from the heavy winter rotation of black, gray, black and gray again is tough. Tossing on skinny jeans and a sweater for winter is the easy way out, so I try to reserve that look for days when I am really lacking inspiration as far as my outfits go. Sure, it’s an easy uniform, but is it creative? Probably not. Even though this look is still skinnies and a sweater, the burgundy and blush color combo hints to spring. Sometimes, you have to compromise your compromise and slowly break out of the winter grays.

IMG_2708Every couple of years, I somehow find a pair of pants (not jeans!) that really excite me. I usually buy a pair in each color I love and end up wearing them nonstop all winter. A girl can’t just wear jeans day after day after day. I found these high-waist skinny pants at American Eagle last fall and, admittedly, only bought one pair. After three weeks of wearing them at least four days a week, I went back and got the other color. When I went back a couple of months later and found the same pants, each color, on sale … you bet I swept those babies up!

The point is: When you find something you love, whether it is the perfect pair of black pumps, a good navy blazer, or those shades that make you feel like an MI6 agent, stock up.
