Built circa 1830, this 1200 square foot, raised Creole plantation has been home to some of Louisiana’s most interesting families. Restored by descendents of Joseph Waguespack who purchased the plantation at a Sheriff’s sale after the Civil War, St. Joseph is the River Road’s most authentic tour. Exhibits including the history of sugarcane, the old detached kitchen and slave cabins add to your experience. On the National Registry of Historic Places.
