Houmas House Plantation is the Crown Jewel of Louisiana’s River Road. Begun in 1775 and completed in 1828, Houmas House has recently been renovated and now boasts a fabulous antique and art collection. Guests step back in time and enjoy the pleasures of plantation life when John Burnside’s home was known as The Sugar Palace. They offer a gift shop, café, elegant fine dining restaurant, meeting rooms and will be opening a 100 room inn in early 2006. Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte was filmed here.
