It's simply a run down bar. Put on your cleanest dirty shirt and feel right at home with most of the clientel. Pool tables are on the left side and they have karaoke often on the right. It's a mixed crowd of straight and gay on karaoke nights and on a few special occassions, with the gays not venturing very much at all to the pool table side and vice versa.
I happen to be an Absolut vodka drinker and the last THREE times I've gone to Big Mike's, drinking just enough to get a very slight buzz, no more than 3 drinks each visit, each morning after each one of those visits, I woke up with a bulldozer pounding away at my head. This is not to say that a hangover headache doesn't happen with Absolute, but it takes a full night of overindulgence and rarely to I get to that point.
In the very near future, I will make ONE MORE visit to Big Mike's just to test my theory that someone is putting rot gut vodka in the Absolut bottles. If after my 4th visit I again wake up with an insane headache, I PROMISE that I will not hesitate one second to call the state authorities and have EVERY ONE of their bottles checked and also have them undergo a very stringent inspection by the health department.
