The Futbol Dream Team squared off against the Baton Rouge Capitals July 21 at Olympia Stadium in a rousing fund-raising charity soccer match to help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Capitals Owner James Vilas led a squad of coaches, players and former players in a full match that ended with the Capitals winning 7-5. Dream Team forward Brandon Smith scored three goals, while Southern women's soccer assistant coach Greg Corbett and Capitals head coach Bo Cassidy each scored a goal. The event raised well over $6,000 for the CF Foundation, including player sponsorships and donations at the gate.

The Dream Team, which wore the red away Capitals uniforms, included some prominent people, including doctors Curtis Chastain, Michael Castine and George Jiha; attorney and state Senate candidate Jason DeCuir; New Orleans Shell Shockers owner Michael Balluff; and Capitals staffer members Gary Buete, Bo Cassidy and Ali Tabrizi.
