On a cold wintery day, nothing is better than a hot cocktail to warm you up from the inside out. And if you like your cocktails classic, there’s none better than the Old Fashioned, reportedly the first drink ever to be referred to as a "cocktail." The warm Old Fashioned is the same as the ordinary drink, just topped off with a little warm water to give it that extra umph.
Ingredients:
2 oz. Maker's Mark bourbon
Angostura bitters
1 sugar cube
2 orange slices
2 maraschino cherries
club soda
A splash of hot water
Preparation:
Place one sugar cube at the bottom of an old-fashioned glass and add 3 dashes of Angostura bitters directly to the sugar cube, as much as possible. Add one orange slice, one cherry, and a splash of soda and muddle thoroughly. Remove the fruit remnants. Add 2 ounces of Maker’s Mark Bourbon, ice, and top off with warm water.
Garnish with a fresh orange slice and a cherry.
