The planks of the porch creak in rhythm as you step inside Blue Moon Saloon to see none other than Grammy-nominated artist Cedric Watson. You may need to borrow the washboard after the long night of dancing that lies ahead.
Some music can only truly be captured with live recording, and certainly this is the case for Watson’s fourth full-length release, Creole Moon. The familial atmosphere and rich sounds of tradition are accentuated by the buzz of the crowd and the jovial on-stage banter of this swinging band. Cedric Watson grew up in San Felipe, Texas, but soon made his way to Lafayette, where he gained popularity as a hub of traditional Creole music. His soulful French storytelling goes hand in hand with a fiddle and accordion, creating a familiar yet original sound perfect for the traditional Creole music fan or any casual listener, because this is music that just feels good.
