The Avenue Rouge Runway Fashion Show is as close to a New York fashion show Baton Rougeans will get without actually visiting the Big Apple, event organizer Jeanne McCollister says.

Presented by Avenue Rouge, InRegisterand 225, the event is a fashion show, a swanky party and a preview of great fall shopping. Doors open for cocktails at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Crowne Plaza on Constitution Avenue.

“We’re creating the kind of high-fashion event you usually see in New York City,” McCollister says.

Headlining will be fashion designer Jodi Arnold, who will unveil 24 brand-new outfits from her Jodi Arnold fall collection. Runway models also will offer sneak peeks at fall clothes from Baton Rouge’s hottest boutiques before they go on sale in stores the day after the show. Participating boutiques are Stella, Aristocracy, Angelique, FeBe, Eros, Rodeo, Currie, Vertigo Clothing, nk boutique and Privé, featuring jewelry by Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry.

A specially created Avenue Rouge Cosmo by Chambord Vodka will be served the evening of the fashion show.

The sponsors are Postlethwaite & Netterville, Mercedes of Baton Rouge, Chambord, Williamson Cosmetic Center & Perenack Aesthetic Surgery and Paris Parker Salons.

Chambord has created a special Avenue Rouge Cosmo by Chambord Vodka that will be served that evening. Local painter Christopher Turner will be painting a high-fashion portrait live. Meanwhile, the evening’s music, special LED lighting and even the models who’ll strut the runway will all be choreographed for a dazzling experience, McCollister says.

Adding glitz to the festivities, Mercedes of Baton Rouge will show off a rare Gullwing SLS AMG, an elegant beast of a car with doors that open overhead, a 563 hp hand-made engine, and a sticker price starting at $183,000.

Although all the VIP and VIP Gold tickets for the evening fashion show are sold out, there remains a very limited number of general admission tickets at $20 each. To order, visit avenuerouge.com and click on the event ad.
