Bill Efferson brings a little ring-a-ding-ding to Baton Rouge.

Bill Efferson is adamant about what he is: a Frank Sinatra apprentice, not an impersonator.

“I don’t try to sing like him. I sing his songs with my voice,” says the local architect and real estate developer of the pastime he refers to as a “four-hour golf game.” Crooning Frank Sinatra started when Efferson was about three years old singing for his grandmother—a Sinatra enthusiast—to a scratchy record playing in the background. Now he sings for charity, private parties, corporate events and for fun.

Once a month he performs for the Birthday Club at Williamsburg Assisted Living, where the audience is well-acquainted with Ol’ Blue Eyes. The response is wonderful. Thursday nights he sings for about an hour at Johnny DeAngelo’s New York Pizza Company, where the owner is quite the fan. Johnny’s most requested song?

“’New York, New York,’ says Efferson. “They love that one over there. They’re from Jersey.” isingsinatra.com
