Bones is all about two things: a slap and a warm sensation. And I’m not just referring to their salacious lyrical content. The two-man whip crack of Michael Miller and Scott Campbell boil their punk/blues down to its quivering carcass on their latest release, Sounds from the Id, recorded on tape in their makeshift studio. “We built the studio out of donated, obsolete equipment,” Miller says. “Tape and tubes were utilized whenever possible. The drums, bass and my voice were run through the tape/tube combo to grit it up. Plug-in effects and direct recording to the computer were outlawed from the start.” “Hot Sexy Video” and longtime live favorite “One Little Pill” throb from the speakers all convulsive and hormonal, while “Reverberation” and “They Always Find You” emerge through clouds of thick, delicious fuzz. It is the kind of dirty, delinquent rock ’n’ roll you were always warned about, which is exactly the kind you need. myspace.com/bones
