Riffs: Shawn Taylor, public information officer for LSU Hospitals and film aficionado

“I’ll often just kind of take refuge in the halcyon days of cinema. Maybe have a little film noir movie marathon with The Maltese Falcon, This Gun for Hire, Notorious, Fallen Angel, Laura, to name a few. I love the established classics, too, films like Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, Ben-Hur. The Prisoner and The Browning Version are great films I’ve seen recently, and though the remake is excellent, the original 3:10 to Yuma is equally good. There are a few good modern filmmakers, but we have a cinematic history to be proud of: Hitchcock, Huston, Lang, Preminger, Wyler, Welles, Bogart, Brando, Cagney, Bergman, Leigh, de Havilland, Hayworth—the list goes on. God bless them.”
