"There's a scene in Unfaithfully Yours where Rex Harrison, playing a conductor, rehearses an orchestra, and he wants more sound from the cymbalist, a little German man. The orchestra is playing while the camera cuts away to the little man scurrying backstage to get these enormous cymbals. He runs back, hits his cue, smashes them together; Harrison does a delighted double-take. The cymbalist explains he had been afraid to be 'vulgar.' That's what I love about Preston Sturges' comedy. It is verbally smart but never afraid of 'vulgar' things like pratfalls. See the smart automat scene in Easy Living. There's nothing funnier."
