HERE: Student at Northeast High School

THERE: Attorney at Sacks Tierney, in Phoenix, Ariz.

When and why did you leave Baton Rouge?

I grew up in Zachary. I left Baton Rouge to attend college and law school out of state. I married an Arizonan in 2001 and started the moving process, though I still call Louisiana my home. There really aren’t many paying opportunities for the type of law that I practice. I compromise by going home often and by donating substantial pro bono hours to projects in Louisiana.

What do you miss about the city?

The food, the trees, the water and the people.

What does Phoenix have that you wish Baton Rouge had?

My husband.

What’s essential when you come back to visit?

Visiting with friends and family. I also love to eat a French dip po-boy at Magnolia Café in St. Francisville. And Blue Bell ice cream, but it is now available in Arizona, too.

When were you in town last, and what did you do?

During the week of July 4, and most of this time was spent working on a cultural preservation project for the Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe that will be used to draft a manuscript about the history, culture and traditions of the Tribe. I also visited with family.
