Harrington’s Café features plenty of crunchy salads, juicy burgers and napkin-worthy po-boys, but it really shines with Creole and Cajun seafood dishes like the spicy, blackened catfish Melancon topped with signature crawfish etouffee, and the eggplant Acadian, in which deep-fried tender eggplant medallions are bathed in crabmeat cream sauce. Daily specials, all $8 or less, include New Orleans crab cakes on Tuesdays, and Aunt Patsy’s alluring crawfish pies on Wednesdays—a real crowd magnet (left). On Mondays, just when you need some lagniappe, Harrington’s throws in thin, well-seasoned fried catfish with its requisite red beans and rice. The corn bread is sweet and fluffy, the carrot soufflé conjures up the holidays and it’s one of few places around to feature that beloved local side dish, spinach Madeline.
