An artful parade of cars

An artful parade of cars

It has to be painted, collaged, decorated, sculpted or covered in something unusual, but most importantly it must roll. Cars that meet these rather eccentric requirements are then eligible to roll in the annual Art Car Parade in downtown Baton Rouge.

This is only the parade’s second year, so if you didn’t go last year you may be shocked to find that beads are not thrown to onlookers, they are instead glued to the sides of the cars. Parade organizers guarantee you won’t even miss the beads because you’ll be too stunned by the spectacle before you.

The parade rolls at noon April 7, starting at the State Capitol, coming down North Fourth Street, and ending in front of the Shaw Center. You have to see it to believe it.
