Last summer’s sold-out hit, Jamie Wax’s Goin’ to Jackson, returns June 1-15 to the Manship Theatre. In this one-man show Wax plays five characters vying for the title of mental health spokesperson for the East Louisiana State Hospital. It’s performance art at its finest. New material and topical updates give the production a facelift and give it that “like new” quality for repeat viewers. Get current on contemporary culture and art with the gallery exhibition by the same name. The reception for CURRENT at the Baton Rouge Gallery is June 6, and the show runs from June 3-29. Also, check out an exhibit of paintings from Lafayette artist Eugene Martin at the LSU School of Art Gallery in the Shaw Center for the Arts June 2-30.
