You knew a glass of red wine was good for your ticker, but now the bottle you buy can help everyone else’s, too. Proceeds from Ehlers Estate wines in Napa Valley support international cardiovascular research. Plus, the winery practices low-impact, biodynamic farming. As for taste, “it’s great stuff,” says Charles Calandro of Calandro’s Supermarket. The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, the winery’s self-described workhorse, is fruit forward, initially showcasing berries, mocha and spice before finishing with cocoa, current and maple ($30 at Calandro’s). ehlersestate.com.
