It’s Tiger Stadium time

The LSU football team’s home opener is sure to be a big one when they take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. The game will air on ESPN, and the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium—not to mention during tailgating—is sure to be electric.

Virginia Tech is hoping football will help heal emotional wounds still fresh from a campus massacre earlier this year in which 32 students and faculty were gunned down by a deranged student. But the Hokies may not find much comfort in Death Valley—they beat LSU in 2002, then refused to play the Tigers the following year, when LSU went on to win a national championship.

Tiger Stadium ticket prices have jumped to $45 for the Virginia Tech game and all home SEC games (an $8 increase), while tickets for Middle Tennessee and Louisiana Tech will be $40 each. The only single-game tickets left this season are for Tulane in the Superdome Sept. 29 ($45 and $56.)
