"Some Kind of Wonderful is a John Hughes obscurity worth seeing just for its tutorial on kissing. Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson) is the ultra-cute tomboy-best friend of Keith (Eric Stoltz), a geeky artist who is trying to woo the popular girl Amanda Jones (Lea Thompson). Watts, in prepping Keith for his date with Amanda, asks him to '...consider if he can deliver the kiss that kills.' What I have learned from Watts' lesson has impacted my own aspirations toward the art of making out. This scene's swollen tension is swiftly relieved by the punctuating drums of Stephen Duffy's 'She Loves Me,' as these pals innocently seem to forget that they are 'just friends' and cross the threshold of hotness."
