Here: Student, McKinley Senior High, barista, CC’s Coffee

There: Economics PhD student, Yale University,

New Haven, Conn.

Why did you leave Baton Rouge?

I left in 1998 to attend Washington University in St. Louis.

What do you miss about the city?

The food, the accents and good college football.

What don’t you miss about it?

The traffic and humidity.

What does New Haven have that you wish Baton Rouge had?

There are several theaters here, including the Shubert, which has been the first stop on the way to Broadway for many shows. The Yale Cabaret, which has a different show each week. And the Yale Rep, which had an incredible August Wilson premiere last year and a great Tony Kushner/Maurice Sendak collaboration this year.

What’s essential when you come back to visit?

I always order a king cake from Cake Palace and make several trips to Counter Culture.

When were you in town last?

Over Spring Break, I went to an LSU baseball game, watched LSU basketball games, and had great boiled crawfish.
