A Festival of Words

Friday, September 29, 2006

Some of the world’s favorite writers, poets and storytellers will present lectures, chat with readers and sign copies of their books at the Louisiana Book Festival Saturday, Oct. 28.

Louisiana heroes Ernest Gaines, Andrei Codrescu and Tim Gautreaux will be joined by the likes of Forrest Gump author Winston Groom, plus comedic actor and author Harry Shearer, who’s done everything from star in This is Spinal Tap to voicing some of the favorite characters on TV’s The Simpsons. Oh, and he writes books, too.

All together more than 100 writers and poets will give book talks and participate in panel discussions. Events are held at the State Capitol and grounds and across the street at the State Library, which is at the corner of N. Fourth Street and Spanish Town Road. There will be food, refreshments and live music at the festival, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

225 is a proud sponsor of the Louisiana Book Festival. Look for our hospitality tent near the State Library and be among the first to pick up a copy of the November issue, which marks our one-year anniversary.
