Scottish treat

Wednesday, November 29, 2006

Smithfield Fair, the Baton Rouge acoustic folk quartet known for its Scottish-tinged acoustic songs, has released its 10th CD. Songs on Walking Through Life deal with new love, loss and the never-ending search for patience and peace. Produced by J. David Praet & Merel Bregant, Smithfield Fair lays down more original music with its 10th effort. The group may draw its strength from Bonnie Scotland, but its folksy, original sound also pulls from jazz and other influences. Walking Through Life features Dudley-Brian Smith (vocals, acoustic guitars, mandolin and recorders), Jan Smith (vocals, accordion and acoustic guitars), Frang Bladen (vocals, bodhran and percussion) and Bob Smith (vocals, acoustic bass). Smithfield Fair keeps a busy national touring schedule but is sure to include some local gigs in 2007. smithfieldfair.com
