Here’s a hint. It’s a briefcase, makeup case wallet and accessory. And 25-year-old Claire Sanchez hasn’t carried one she did not design since 2002. Sanchez matches each of her handbags to a woman’s name. Some are names she found interesting: The Jackie, The Olivia. Many are friends of hers: The Nannette, The Payton, The Lani.
“Green is a good color to describe Lani because she’s such a calming influence to me,” Sanchez says. “This was also my first structured clutch, and since it was such a breakthrough design, I had to call it Lani. She helps me see things in a different way.”
