Scooby who?

Your kids might not be singing songs by Hollywood Hal and Rhinestone Al —yet. But if Scott Innes and Jim Hogg are right, the whole world will be Hal and Al pals in a matter of five years.

“I see these characters in five years, maybe sooner, being household names all across the country,” Innes says.

Innes knows the cartoon business. He’s a part-time WYNK radio DJ, but he spends most of his time voicing Scooby Doo and Popeye cartoons.

Innes teamed up with local musician Jim Hogg to create characters to give their own five-year-old sons something positive to watch on TV. Hal and Al sing about eating vegetables and saying yes ma’am.

“There’s so much negative in the world,” Hogg says. “Children—you can never reach them too young.”

Hal and Al CDs are on sale at Raising Cane’s and Smoothie Kings exclusively until August. Their DVD, featuring Innes and Hogg wearing Barney-esque costumes, will be released this fall. Check out more Hal and Al at halandal.com.
