A favorite in the Northeast and long sought after in Louisiana, Belgian lager Stella Artois is now available in Baton Rouge via distributor Crescent Crown. After logging repeated requests from local bar owners—Red Star’s Frank McMains called the Stella brewery in Leuven directly, to no avail—Crescent Crown District Manager Ernie Munster has begun a soft roll out of the crisp golden brew in the Capital City.

“It’s not like your everyday draft,” Munster says. “We have to order it so far in advance, then it ships by boat.”

What that amounts to is an expensive keg. Locally, the light flavorful beer averages about $4.25 a pint. Stella is available on tap at Bistro Byronz, Happy’s, Red Star and SoGo Live and will soon be featured at The Chimes.
