[While LSU competes for the SEC campionship, Alley broussard fights to come back]
Thursday, December 1, 2005
Running back Alley Broussard had climbed his way to starting running back in an exceedingly talented LSU backfield when he injured his right knee during a pre-season scrimmage, ending his season.
His leg was twisted in a pile up when he felt the unmistakable pop of the rubber band-like anterior cruciate ligament tearing.
Surgery was swift, but almost immediately his muscular right leg shrank from lack of use. He weighed 240, but now is closer to 225. His calves carry small tattoos–"Alley" on the left leg, "Cat" on the right, giving the training staff ammo for some friendly teasing. "They say it looks more like a kitten," Broussard quips.
Broussard and his fellow LSU backs liken their running styles to vehicles. Broussard (the diesel truck) has gotten plenty of support from Shyrone Carey (the Miata), Justin Vincent (the Porsche) and Joseph Addai (the El Camino). Meanwhile, Broussard grinds through a grueling rehab regimen.
