Music scene blossoms

From the misty southern rock of Elsah to the breakneck surfabilly of Shark Attack!, a current crop of young musicians is breaking the musical mold of our city in really interesting ways.

Garage pop quintet The Eames Era proved to be Baton Rouge's top export of 2005 as the band's single Could Be Anything was featured in an episode of the hit ABC medical drama Gray's Anatomy, as well as the accompanying soundtrack. On October 20, the group was trumpeted as Spin magazine's "Band of the Day."

The Eames Era formed at LSU three years ago and has since proven to be the city's response to the indie rock starlets of Rilo Kiley, producing song after song of sublimely sugary pop tarts with a slap dash of true grit. Spirited debut album, Double Dutch, is available now through Amazon.com and the iTunes music store.
