Tin Roof is welcoming a new beer this week. The Baton Rouge brewery’s Smiling Ivan Russian Imperial Stout will be on display at a release party Wednesday, Feb. 25, at The Bulldog at 6 p.m.

The beer has a rich, “warm biscuit” background to give it a chewy sensation and is complemented by chocolate, toffee, coffee, raisin, plum and fig flavors. With the temps getting cold again, this beer might be the perfect elixir.

Similar to Tin Roof’s imperial black ale release Rougarou, Smiling Ivan is a limited edition, single-batch beer that will be available on tap at The Bulldog as well as in 22-ounce bombers.

The release isn’t the only big event on the local brewery’s radar this week. On Friday, Feb. 27, Tin Roof is hosting a Fried Fish Friday, 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. Chef Chris Wadsworth of Triumph Kitchen will be serving plates with potato salad and slaw for $10.

Also this weekend, Tin Roof will team with beer club Brasseurs a la Maison and beer-maker supply shop LA Homebrew for the Home Brew Beer Festival Saturday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m. More than a dozen teams are competing. The event benefits the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Attendees must bring a non-perishable food donation for entry.
