Bin 77, a fine dining restaurant in Perkins Rowe, has finished work on its expansion. According to Chef David Dickensauge, the side bar is in its soft opening phase, and he and his team are still working out some kinks with menu offerings. In a Facebook post, the restaurant offered a few pictures earlier this month, giving patrons a look at what’s to come. A grand opening date has not been set. Bin 77 announced the expansion late last December. The restaurant took over the adjacent building formerly occupied by The Wine Loft. The space, which doubles the overall size of the restaurant, places an emphasis on classic cocktails (think Manhattans and Death in the Afternoons), a whiskey and scotch selection and small seafood plates. It also includes an upstairs dining space that can be rented out for small events. Amy Strother of Denicola’s handled the interior design. The patio area between the buildings will also be updated. Now open: Marty J’s Seafood, Meats & Po-boys
Baton Rouge has a new seafood and meat market. Marty J’s Seafood, Meats & Po-boys is now open at 13434 Perkins Road in the former City Cafe location. The restaurant and market offers daily plate lunch specials, seafood poboys and plates, burgers, meat pies and crawfish pies. Marty J’s is also offering boiled crawfish, currently at $4.59 per pound. Former state senator Marty Chabert is the mind behind Marty J’s. He told Daily Report in January that this market concept wasn’t his first rodeo. He formerly owned a truck stop in Chauvin that sold hot food with local flair and also featured a meat market. Marty J’s business hours are Sunday-Thursday 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday-Saturday 10:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. or 9 p.m., depending on how much crawfish is left.
