Let these Baton Rouge area restaurants cook your Thanksgiving meal


Holiday season is hectic. Between planning meals, long-distance relatives and never being able to find a turkey at the grocery store, the holidays can quickly go from fun to frantic.

For those who don’t have the time or the expert cooking skills to put together a full meal for a crowd, several Baton Rouge area restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving Day, offering traditional Thanksgiving cuisine for take-out, dine-in or buffet.

Here is a sampling of how Baton Rouge is celebrating Thanksgiving. Reservations are recommended at all and required at some restaurants for dine-in meals on Thanksgiving.


La Madeleine

This French chain is offering several holiday meal deals. In addition to dine-in meals, La Madeleine offers holiday feasts for families that serve eight and cost $119.99 (about $15 per person) and for offices that serve 20 and cost $219.99 ($10.99 per person).

La Madeleine’s Thanksgiving fare includes oven-roasted turkey breast, cranberry apple stuffing, cheesy potato gratin, green beans almondine and desserts like pumpkin pie and a grand chocolate tart.

Sullivan’s Steakhouse

Enjoy a $39 prix-fixe Thanksgiving meal or a-la-carte options from Sullivan’s.

The holiday menu includes items like hand-carved roasted turkey, garlic horseradish mashed potatoes, steakhouse skillet mushrooms and shaved Brussels sprouts.

Sullivan’s is open noon-8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Call 925-1161 to make reservations.

Galatoire’s Bistro

Galatoire’s will be open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, serving holiday cuisine such as roasted turkey breast and sweet potato cheesecake alongside some Galatoire’s classics such as duck crepes and crabmeat sardou.

The bistro is also offering some Thanksgiving grab-and-go options. The catering menu includes turtle soup, duck and andouille gumbo, potatoes au gratin, bread pudding and more.

Tallulah at the Renaissance

Tallulah at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel will host a Thanksgiving lunch with a preset menu 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

The menu includes traditional fare like roasted turkey with wild mushrooms, homemade cranberry sauce, smothered green beans and pecan pie.

The meal is $30 for adults, $15 for children ages 6-12 and free for children younger than 5.

The Kingfish Grill at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center

From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Thanksgiving, The Kingfish Grill at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center will offer a traditional Thanksgiving buffet.

In addition to turkey and gravy, the menu features herb-roasted beef, cane syrup-glazed ham, Louisiana seafood creole and smothered mirliton and oyster dressing.

For dessert, try the Hilton’s bananas foster beignets and assorted cookies and pies. 

The buffet is $34.95 for adults and $14.95 for children younger than 12.

Crowne Plaza

The Crowne Plaza on Constitution Avenue is hosting six lunch seatings on Thanksgiving Day. The seatings are 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon, 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The buffet will offer classic holiday dishes like deep-fried turkey, sweet potato and shrimp casserole, garlic mashed potatoes and dirty rice.

The cost is $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for kids.

Latil’s Landing at Houmas House

From 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Thanksgiving, a buffet with savory items like bisque of curried pumpkin and crawfish, candied sweet potato medallions and fried turkey with cranberry kumquat relish will be available at Latil’s Landing at Houmas House Plantation and Gardens.

Reservations are required for this buffet, and the cost is $60 for adults and $25 for children younger than 10.

Nottoway Plantation

On Thanksgiving Day, Nottoway Plantation will hold three Thanksgiving lunch seatings at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The buffet features a salad bar, a carving station with slow-roasted turkey and top-round roast, barbecue shrimp and grits, assorted desserts and more.

The buffet at Nottoway is $32.95 for adults, $12 for children ages 6-10 and free for children younger than 5.

Ruffino’s Restaurant

Ruffino’s is offering three prix-fixe dine-in menus on Thanksgiving Day 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

For $28.95, diners can choose from a turkey or a root beer-glazed ham dinner, or a combination turkey and ham dinner for $32.95. Each dinner includes the famous Sclafani family oyster dressing, candied sweet potatoes and creamed spinach.

Copeland’s

Dine in or get your Thanksgiving meal prepared and ready for takeout at Copeland’s. The restaurant is offering Thanksgiving classics with a Southern spin, such as Cajun fried turkey, cornbread dressing and Louisiana oyster dressing.

For $39.95, patrons can enjoy a prix-fixe menu at the restaurant, or order individual Thanksgiving meal items for takeout online.
