A Frankie’s breakfast fit for a king

Remember when (last month) I was all, “healthy, healthy, healthy” and “salads, salads, salads.” Well, along comes this assignment—try The Morning Glory at Frankie’s Dawg House.

This is a pseudo-breakfast option from the recently reopened and renovated hot dog stand near the Perkins Road overpass. It’s a nearly foot-long sausage dog topped with a fried egg, bacon, cheese and maple syrup.

You know the old rules about three meals a day—where you eat like a king in the morning, a prince in the middle of the day and a pauper at night? The Morning Glory is the ultimate king’s meal.

It’s a bit excessive, because it has everything. There’s the salty, sweet combination of the meat and maple syrup and a cheesy egg to top it off. It will give you that sleepy sensation after finishing a big meal, aka “the itis.” And it’s perfect for the morning after a big night on the town.

When you order it, you’re pumping the brakes on the “healthy, healthy, healthy” rhetoric and giving into the devil on the shoulder that says, “Treat yourself.” You can’t eat it all the time, but when you do order it, you might be looking for your crown. Frankie’s is located at 2318 Cedardale Drive. frankiesdawghouse.com
