Extreme burgers: Triple Quarters Burger

Now, that’s an extreme burger. Photo courtesy of Quarters.

Friday marks the start of May, which is National Burger Month.

Now, I’m not sure how you plan to celebrate. Maybe, you’ll peruse 225‘s selection of Extreme Burgers. One entry that could have fit right in with our March cover story was the Triple Quarters Burger at Quarters, an arcade/bar/restaurant at 4530 South Sherwood Forest Blvd.

Quarters’ sales and marketing manager Keidrick Alford says the venue’s general manager and food team wanted to come up with something fun and different for the month.

The original Quarters Burger features a pound of ground beef, a fried onion ring, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo and barbecue sauce. The Triple Quarters Burger is three of those piled atop each other. It’s priced at $39.99 and will be available for a limited time.

“The Quarters Burger is something that’s already popular with our guests,” Alford says. “We wanted to do something no one else has done before.”

During May, Quarters is offering an “eat it or buy it” challenge. A willing patron will have to eat the triple burger with three orders of cheese fries. If completed, the patron will receive the meal for free, a $25 gift card, roll of toilet tissue (no joke) and a framed photo to be put in the hall of fame. Quarters will also have all of its burgers at half price on Thursdays in May.

Already, Alford says a few customers have asked about it once Quarters revealed the burger through its Instagram page. No one has been able to conquer the challenge, however.

“We’ve cooked a few and let some people try them,” he says. “We’ve had a customer come in and say, ‘Oh, this is nothing. I can eat it 20 minutes.’ I’ll say, so far, it’s been the triple burger: 2, man: zero.”
