Dine Roundup: John Folse’s new cookbook; City Pork Deli adds breakfast

Chef John Folse launches new vegetable-centric cookbook next week

In the tradition of his hefty After the Hunt and Hooks, Lies & Alibis cookbooks, Louisiana chef John Folse is unveiling the more than 900-page Can You Dig It: Louisiana’s Authoritative Collection of Vegetable Cookery with a book launch and signing next Wednesday, Dec. 2.

The book includes more than 600 vegetable recipes featuring everything from root vegetables to rare local flora and those recipes run the gamut of dishes like soups, entrees, breads, desserts and even a few beverages.

Folse and his staff will celebrate the new cookbook with a launch party at Barnes & Noble Citiplace at 6 p.m. Dec. 2, with an unveiling of the cover image and samples of recipes. Folse will promote the book via a tour throughout Louisiana in December, which includes a stop at Fresh Kitchen‘s Corporate Boulevard location Dec. 9 at 11:30 a.m.

Find out more information about the launch party via the book’s Facebook page.

City Pork Deli now serving weekday breakfast

City Pork fans can now get their favorite Sunday brunch items for breakfast every day. The Deli and Charcuterie location in the Perkins Road overpass area now offers breakfast Monday-Friday starting at 7 a.m.

The City Pork breakfast menu includes the restaurant’s signature brunch items like the City Pork Bacon Waffle and brisket and gravy, as well as its savory breakfast sandwiches, including the Lil’ Pig (bacon, honey ham, cheddar cheese and a fried egg on Brioche) and the Breakfast Biscuit (a sausage patty, fried egg and fig preserves on a house-made biscuit).

According to the deli’s Twitter page, the breakfast addition stemmed from a demand from deli customers. City Pork breakfast is available only at the Deli and Charcuterie location.

City Pork Deli and Charcuterie is at 2363 Hollydale Ave.
