Tiger Deaux-nuts offers fans a sneak preview
After months of delays, the doughnut shop Tiger Deaux-nuts is giving its Facebook fans a sneak preview this weekend of its new location at 5162 Government St. According to a Facebook post Dec. 18, the shop will offer a limited selection, including Christmas “deauxnuts,” Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 20-21. The new Tiger Deaux-nuts is in the former Rocco’s Po-boys and Grill. “I’m excited this all fell into place,” Tiger Deaux-nuts owner Jeff Herman told us in November. “I’m glad to be a part of the revitalization on Government Street. There’s a cool scene going on there.” The official grand opening is slated for Jan. 2. Read more about the plans for the new Tiger Deaux-nuts location here.

Velvet Cactus BR location coming next year
Those wanting to dine and enjoy the scenery at the Baton Rouge location of The Velvet Cactus will have to wait a little while longer. Owner Herb Dyer says the restaurant is looking to open around mid-January. In November, Dyer told Daily Report he was hoping to open before the end of the year. However, Dyer says the delay has come from finalizing permits. The Baton Rouge Velvet Cactus will be at 7655 Old Hammond Highway near the intersection of Jefferson Highway in a property that formerly housed Another Broken Egg. Get more information.
