Cap City Beer Fest brings unique brews to Baton Rouge this weekend

This story has been updated to reflect a time change for Saturday’s Cap City Beer Fest.

Head to North Boulevard Town Square Saturday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. for the newest beer festival in the Capital Region.

The Cap City Beer Fest, presented by the Companion Animal Alliance, features more than 30 breweries from around the country. Local favorites include Abita Beer, Tin Roof Brewing Company, Gnarly Barley Brewing Company and Bayou Teche Brewing.

Parish Brewing Company is introducing its Neapolitan Milk Stout, a milk stout blend with cocoa, vanilla beans and strawberries. Specialty kegs will be tapped every 45 minutes revealing surprise rare brews.

Attendees will receive a sampling mug and have access to unlimited beer sampling during the event.

Food from Galatoire’s Bistro, The State Bar and Grub, Mestizo Louisiana Mexican Cuisine and Reed’s Cakes and Catering will be available for purchase.

Expect dishes such as pulled pork tacos, shrimp and crab enchiladas and stuffed sausage dogs (local green onion sausage stuffed with onions, peppers and mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto).

The event is free to enter, but beer samples and the sampling mug are only included with the purchase of a ticket. Water and soft drinks are also included with a ticket.

Tickets are $40 in advance or $50 at the event. Purchase tickets here. The event time has been rescheduled for 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10.

Proceeds benefit the Companion Animal Alliance, and extra donations are welcome.
