Boutin’s out, Roux 61 coming soon

Boutin’s Restaurant, a Cajun eatery that offers live music and dancing, closes this Saturday after almost more than a decade of business at 8322 Bluebonnet Blvd.

However, the space won’t be vacant long. Roux 61, a Louisiana-style restaurant based in Natchez, will take over the space and is looking to open this summer. The Baton Rouge iteration will feature the same menu as the original Natchez location with an emphasis on seafood platters, raw and chargrilled oysters and burgers. The restaurant will also feature beer, craft cocktails and a whiskey and scotch selection.

Boutin’s filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November 2014. According to documents filed, Boutin’s owed between $500,000 and $1 million to creditors. In early 2012, Boutin’s expanded to a second location in Howell Place in north Baton Rouge. That location has since closed.
