The Baton Rouge Epicurean Society announced Monday that Robert “Bobby” Yarborough is the 2015 recipient of the Grace “Mama” Marino Lifetime Achievement Award.

A Baton Rouge native, Yarborough is a third-generation owner and operator of Manda Fine Meats.

Yarborough is the ninth recipient of the award, which honors a Baton Rouge epicure who has dedicated much of his or her life to service in the Baton Rouge community. Yarborough has worked with local organizations such as the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge. Previous winners include Chef John Folse and last year’s recipient J.H. “Jay” Campbell Jr. of Associated Grocers.

The award dinner honoring Yarborough will be held Thursday, Aug. 27, at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge. A seven-course dinner will be served, featuring dishes from area chefs. Tickets are $200 per person. The event will kick off the annual Fête Rouge weekend, which shows off food and drink from Baton Rouge restaurants. Proceeds from all Fête Rouge events benefit local childhood health and nutrition programs.
