Pennington’s Red Stick Farmers Market reopens Thursday

The Thursday editions of the Red Stick Farmers Market will reopen tomorrow, Aug. 27, behind the Pennington Biomedical Research Center.

The market was temporarily closed due to the harsh summer heat and rains and to give farmers a chance to transition from summer crops to fall crops.

Late summer crops including sweet peppers, okra, cucumbers, mustard greens, eggplant, sweet potatoes and blueberries will be available at the market tomorrow. Some other products featured at the market include artisan breads, stone-ground grits, jams, pickles and gelato.

The Thursday market at Pennington is open every Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon, weather permitting.
