Events picks: Tango, or learn to tango, at Manship

If you’re looking for a bit of fun this season, Manship Theatre is in the midst of its three-part dancing class on the ways of Argentine tango. Tango Lagniappe, a group of local tango enthusiasts, is leading the series, which continues Monday, Dec. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Manship Gallery. There, attendees can learn the basics of tango for free until 7:15 p.m. An intermediate lesson starts at 7:30 p.m. for $5. Open dancing starts at 8:15 p.m. No dance experience is required. It’s Christmas, and you’re looking for something adult to do. You’re not alone, and thankfully, Baton Rouge has a few options for you this week. The fun starts Christmas Eve at Lock & Key Whiskey Bar, where Ross Hoppe, Chad Braud and Robert Kling will host an open jam at 9 p.m. Get more information. Manship Theatre screens three recent releases this week. Michel Gondry’s Mood Indigo will be shown Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The 2014 American drama Before I Disappear will be shown Friday, Dec. 26, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. Manship will also screen the critically-acclaimed horror film The Babadook Saturday, Dec. 27, at 6 p.m. Tickets for each screening are $8.50.
